Born August 13, 1960 in Brooklyn, New York, Lewis is mostly remembered for her role in A Different World where, aside from playing Jaleesa, Lewis helped compose the theme song used for the series. Lewis left the series in 1992 to pursue the character of Robin Dumars on the cast of Hangin' with Mr. Cooper. In 1965-1966 she continued her acting career mostly doing voiceovers which include characters on Spiderman(1995), Bruno The Kid (1966), and the TV movie C Bear and Jamal (1996). Also in 1998, she helped write the movie Black Jaq and continues to make appearances on various shows.
